Class 7 – Radioactive Material
Radioactive material means any material containing radionuclides where both the activity concentration and the total activity in the consignment exceed the values specified in Sections 220.127.116.11.1 to 18.104.22.168.6 of the ADG Code.
Note that while the ADG Code can be used for the classification limits of Radioactive Material, the transportation of Class 7's are not subject to the ADG Code.
Nationally, subject to state based legislation and regulation Australian Radiation Protection And Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) controls the movement and use of radioactive material in Australia.
These substances are identified by the Class 7 labels (samples available for download below) and Class 7 designation in any Safety Data Sheet.
