AIDGC Fellows and Honorary

Fellows(AIDGC)

A Fellow is a Member with a minimum of five years Membership and who has provided exemplary service to the Institute and/or has achieved a high level of professional performance in the field of dangerous goods.

A Fellow will be elected by a resolution of a General Meeting of the Institute.

Graham Goodfellow (Deceased)

The Australasian Institute of Dangerous Goods Consultants was established in December, 2001 and Graham was a founding Member and initiator of our Institute.

He was made an Honorary Member of the AIDGC in 2009 in recognition of his many, many contributions and commitment to our industry.

He was a personal friend to members of the AIDGC and business mentor to many of his associates.

He will also be remembered and his memory will be respected, for the very substantial contribution he made in nurturing the AIDGC.

Jurgen Strauch (Deceased)

Jurgen Strauch (former Senior Inspector and Dangerous Goods Specialist with WorkCover NSW) passed away on Sunday 22 April, 2012 after a short illness.

The Australasian Institute of Dangerous Goods Consultants was established in December, 2001 with the support of WorkCover NSW and Jurgen in particular.

Jurgen was instrumental in assisting AIDGC set up the competency assessment scheme (initially by devising the questions and acceptable answers under the old prescriptive regulations and then providing advice to members of the Competency Assessment Panel) to ensure that the risk-based approach to safe dangerous goods management was incorporated in AIDGC.

Jurgen was made an Honorary Member of the AIDGC in 2011. He was a personal friend to many members of the AIDGC and an unselfish and sage mentor to anyone who felt the need to call him to ‘pick his brains’.

He will also be remembered and his memory will be respected for the very substantial contribution he made in nurturing the AIDGC.

Fellow Requisites (FAIDGC)

  • Current ‘Member Level membership of the AIDGC; or In exceptional circumstances only, individuals may be nominated through the Board of Directors;
  • Significant individual responsibility and exceptional contribution to the dangerous goods consultancy field over an extended period of time, not normally less than 15 years;
  • Two referees currently holding an AIDGC Fellow grade of membership or allied industry Fellow grade (e.g. FIFireE, FIChemE, FIE, etc) (Also see Item 1)
  • A valuable contribution to your industry and may include training or mentoring AIDGC associates, or non-AIDGC individuals , attendance at professional meetings, regional activities, work on committees, research, etc.
